Church of Hope is a faith ministry which reaches out in the City of Melbourne to the street kids and disadvantaged people within the CBD. After commencing as Church in the Streets Ministries on the 3rd of March 1999, the ministry became and incorporated church on the 3rd of October, 2003, with the new name "Church of Hope". As part of their practical ministry to the under-privileged people within the City, they also incorporated a Care ministry called Church of Hope Care. Since 1 June, 2004 many people from the streets have come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour. Church of Hope has a weekly Saturday night outreach service, where many of the disadvantaged people in the City have become committed attendees at the church. During the week Church of Hope is open as a Drop in Centre Ministry, where people can do a number of discipleship classes or watch the Christian TV Stations. This week Church of Hope are holding their first Evangelism Training School which is open to all Christians, who have a desire to be equipped to reach out to their unsaved friends and colleagues. Day sessions commence at 10.00 am and night sessions commence at 7.00 pm. Church of Hope's major outreach events for the remainder of the year are a FREE Christmas lunch for the disadvantaged people in Melbourne (12.00 noon to 3.00 pm on Christmas day), and an inter-church New Year's Eve outreach in the Centre (commencing at 7.00 pm to midnight) and in the Streets of Melbourne commencing from 8.00 pm. ALL CHRISTIANS ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE. A major part of the ministry of Church of Hope is to evangelise the streets of Melbourne and direct people to local churches. At a time when drugs and violence are a problem in the City of Melbourne, the opening of the Church of Hope Centre has helped to see a change in the streets of Melbourne. Over 300 people during the past 5 months have passed through the Church of Hope Centre for a free meal and some fellowship. Church of Hope relies on God touching the hearts of Christians with a heart to see the City of Melbourne won to Jesus to fund its outreach and pastoral ministries. With many activities coming up at Christmas, Church of Hope will need the support of some generous Christians to help it to meet its monthly rental commitments for December and January, AND TO PURCHASE SOME MORE BUSKERS AMPS ($245 each), which will be used to share the gospel during the New Year's Eve Inter-Church outreach. The venue for the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday night is the German Lutheran Hall at 22 Parliament Place. The venue for every 2nd and 4th Saturday night is the James Laughnan Hall, 57-65 Coppin St, Richmond. Meetings commence at 5pm.
