Sex in the City

The Master designer got it right. Sex was designed as a profound intimacy between a husband and wife, expressing true love under the covering of faith and for the raising of a family. Why was it designed this way? Because God only wanted the very best for us...

Is someone listening?

"As someone responsible for the content in both Dolly and Cosmopolitan, I can state with authority that we treat these two markets very differently in every area including fashion, relationships, finance, world events and, especially, sex...

If you actually read a sex story in Dolly (rather than just be outraged by a headline), you'll see that the message we push consistently is one of extreme caution and abstinence. Having sex is never portrayed as cool or aspirational, but rather as a huge decision with equally huge consequences.

We are constantly searching for advocates of virginity, such as Guy Sebastian, and the vast majority of Dolly's sex content focuses heavily on the negative emotional and physical consequences of having sex before you're ready."

Most parents won't buy this line from Mia Freedman, editor-in-chief of Dolly and Cosmopolitan. However it is something to see Mia promote Guy Sebastian as a role model for his Godly sexual values!

Guy comes from Paradise Church SA, where they are doing an incredible job impacting the Australian culture for Christ. Check out some of the marketplace action that has emanated from Paradise: Planet Shakers BGMI Family First Party. These people are taking Genesis 1:28 very seriously with outstanding success. Roll on Paradise!

Condoms do not Provide "Safe Sex"

Extract from a report by the Sexual Health Working Party, Queensland Department of Health:

"These data would suggest that condoms could properly be said to be highly effective against only Gonorrhoea and HIV disease, which together account for 5.5% of the STI’s documented to occur at our largest Queensland STD clinic. This suggests that they will be inactive, or only weakly active against 94.5% of Queensland STI’s, which not only suggests a very different public health policy from the one currently in vogue, but also suggests that the present condom based campaign may actually be responsible to some degree for the present explosion of STI’s in Australia...

However on the broader context of sexual and reproductive health for the cross section of the Australian community, the technical shortcomings of condom-based public health programs is now obvious to the discerning and informed reviewer. Harm minimization based programs appear to have a natural “fatigue time” which has now been exceeded.  Public Health Policy Makers will need to urgently come to grips with this major phenomenon if they are properly to prepare our community for the next millenium of sexual health challenges – of which a good number appear to continually emerge.

What are the alternatives?...

The major obvious alternative would be a return to a traditional morality and family values and a promotion of exclusive marriage as the sexual social and cultural norm."

True Love Waits will take a global stand for purity this weekend at the Olympics in Athens

"An Evening With the Olympians: True Love Waits" will be held Sunday night at the Dora Stratou Theatre, located at the base of the Acropolis. The event will feature several athletes, including 1988 gold medallist Joe DeLoach and "Olympic Athlete of the Century" and 10-time medallist (nine gold and one silver) Carl Lewis.

True Love Waits (TLW), a LifeWay Christian Resources ministry, is partnering with Lay Witnesses for Christ International to host the special program, during which athletes will be encouraging young people to make a commitment to sexual purity by choosing to abstain from sex until marriage.

Jimmy Hester, co-founder of True Love Waits, says the Olympic event is a golden opportunity to communicate God's design for human sexuality. Hester says the message of abstinence transcends all cultural barriers, and the TLW movement, which began in the U.S., has caught on in several places around the globe.

The TLW spokesman says event organizers in Athens have already received abstinence commitment cards of young people from every inhabited continent in the world.

Check out Some of the Costs of Sexual Permissiveness

While every situation is unique, we can't avoid the proliferation of the following costs of sex apart from God's plan:

bullet

teenage pregnancies ruining educational opportunities for many young people who need skills to work their way out of poverty

bullet

abortion inflicting death as a solution to unwanted babies produced by recreational sex

bullet

HIV Aids and the other sexually transmitted diseases

bullet

family relationships being destroyed by adultery

bullet

children loosing their nuclear family through divorce and separation resulting from sexual betrayal

bulletincredible budgetary costs to society in providing judicial services, health services and pensions to support the downside of permissiveness.

"As for me and my household we will serve the Lord" (Joshua 24:15). It just makes great sense.
