Psalm 24 is a great place to build your confidence and
direction in serving God 24/7. Let's open
Psalm 24 to explore this attitude shaping word of God...
24:1-2
The scripture could not be more embracing of God's global ownership: The
earth is the Lord's and everything in it. The world, and all who live in it.
This is our Biblical world view and is affirmed in
Eph 4:6 and
Hebrews 1:2-3. Until we have this truth embedded in our spirit we will
not be able to withstand the deceptions of secularism or resist the pressures
of multi-faith syncretism.
24:3-4
The psalm calls us to exemplary living as witnesses of the Lord Jesus Christ
in our daily occupations. What are the key qualities we are to model in the
marketplace?
|
Clean hands |
no
theft, abuse or improper touching with our hands. No misuse of company
property! |
|
Pure hearts |
untainted motives, allowing the Holy Spirit to check our thinking and
attitudes on a moment by moment basis. Wanting the very best for others
around us (agape at work). |
|
No Idolatry |
No
compromises on pursuit of power, career or money. Keeping God first
priority in our lives. |
| |
24:5
The person who sets their goals in these ways will be blessed and will
bring blessing to those around them. This person will be vindicated in the
stand they have taken for God. This is true integrity. Not just integrity
to oneself, but integrity before God. |
| |
24:6
Do we have to be perfect in these ways to be accepted? No, David calls us
to be genuine seekers... to set our face towards God and his ways.
To seek his face daily. What a joy! |
| |
24:7
Now the Lord speaks great words of encouragement: Chin up, head erect,
the glint of the overcomer in your eye: "be lifted up". When you
walk into your world with God in your heart the equation changes! You
are there to throw open the doors of your heart and welcome in the King of
Kings. You open the ancient gates of faith so that the King of Glory
may come in... right into your sphere of influence. God wants to go to
work with you. To be revealed through you. Lift up your heads you gates
that the King of Glory may come in! |
| |
24:8
And who is this King of Glory you are welcoming into your marketplace?
The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. That's who!
This is transformational change in your situation. |
| |
24:9-10
Sing the chorus, rejoice. Take great heart. Lift up your heads, open the
doors, let the King of Glory in... the Lord Almighty, he is the King of
Glory."The earth is the Lord's and
everything in it". The Lord wants his world back and you are his
emissary in your sphere of influence. Open up the gates and let the King
of Glory into your world. |
